Reiki is a specific energy that comes from an infinite reiki source. A simple invocation is necessary in order to receive and transmit Reiki.
Reiki is simple to apply; the hands are quiet and lay softly over the energy centers of the body for about three minutes at a time.
Reiki can be used on humans, animals, plants, objects, places and situations. Reiki can be sent hands off (beaming) and long distance backwards or forwards through time and space (level two).
A Reiki session on a person is generally performed on a massage table. Reiki has a relaxing effect and usually puts the person receiving Reiki to sleep.
Reiki can be applied immediately after you have received a Reiki attunement from a Reiki Master. There are four levels; level one, level two, advanced and Master level.
Reiki can also be used on oneself to help in all areas of our lives. Reiki works on all four bodies; spiritual, physical, mental and emotional. Reiki promotes heightened psychic awareness, health and well being. Reiki can help us move into alignment with our divine path on earth.
Level One Hands on healing.

Beaming as a Reiki invitation
Giving Reiki to horses is a great way to practice. Horses seem to really appreciate the healing energy of Reiki.
First ask the horse is they would like a Reiki treatment before you begin a treatment.
Some horses may not be interested yet others may even ask you for Reiki. (This has happened to me on many occasions).
The best way to approach a horse with Reiki is to begin by beaming Reiki gently in to their auric field.
Have your hands and arms relaxed, face the centers of your palms towards the horse. Keep your arms close to your body, not outstretched as you may drive the horse away from you. Remember you are creating an invitation.
Check out the three photographs opposite:
#1 In this photo' I am offering Jackie Reiki by beaming Reiki towards her unobtrusively. My body is relaxed and there is no pressure from me to make her do anything. I allow her to make a decision. She can ignore me, walk away or accept my invitation.
#2 Jackie accepts the invitation by touching her nose to my left palm. This is a definite, yes I want it!
#3 Jackie tells me where she wants Reiki by positioning her body to my hands. Jackie has problems with her pelvis and back legs. I allow my intuition to guide me. I am not afraid to stand behind Jackie, she is fully aware of my presence, (notice her ears pointing at me). Horses only kick out when you surprise them.

Giving Reiki to dogs
Dogs can greatly benefit from Reiki. They can sense the energy and respond to Reiki positively.
You need to ask permission from the dog before you give a Reiki treatment. The dog will let you know. Never force yourself upon the dog. Once you start the treatment be aware of how the dog is responding.
Here are three photographic examples of Reiki being given to a small dog, Minnie, and a large dog, Zorro.
Both dogs are fully present with the Reiki practitioner.
Generally a Reiki treatment on a dog can last anywhere from five minutes to thirty minutes.
Not only can Reiki can help with all kinds of ailments, it's easy to apply and effective.
You will strengthen your relationships to your animals or those you work on by giving them regular Reiki treatments.

Personal recollections of how I have used Reiki.
Snake bite
In the spring of 2007, my 90lb dog Zorro was bit on the paw by a rattle snake while out on a trail ride.
I was on my horse Jackie and my other dog Roxy, Zorro's sister was present.
I managed to get Zorro to the vet within an hour and a half of him being bitten.
He was given the anti venom and seemed to be doing well.
I was told by the vets that Zorro would have to remain in vet care for three days and there nights.
On the second day the vet called and told me that Zorro had taken a turn for the worse, his temperature had dropped dangerously low and he was bleeding through his skin all the way up his leg.
I immediately went to see him and performed a Reiki psychic extraction on him in the back of the vets office.
After working with Zorro for forty minutes through his eyes I saw him come back into his body.
I knew then that he was going to make it.
Despite the vets advice not to take him home I did.
After three days he recovered.
I definitely feel that the Reiki psychic extraction contributed to saving his life.
Bash on the head
While on a trail ride with my horse Jackie I ran into a pointed low hanging tree branch. At the time of the impact I was raising my head to avoid another low hanging branch.
Jackie and I were in a trot, the moment of impact was a complete surprise.
I immediately started doing Reiki on my head, and then on my neck.
After five minutes the pain left.
When I got home half my forehead was bruised but the swelling had gone.
I believe that Reiki helped move the trauma out of my body from the accident.
Abscess
My dogs mother, Little Girl had come back from the vet with her half of her belly sewed up.
She was about four times the normal size.
When I saw her condition I knew she needed help.
Little Girl is a shy skittish dog and not easy to handle.
Despite this I was able to perform psychic surgery on her to help move out any obstructions in her body that were preventing her from healing.
It was the second time that the vets had gone in and cut her open to look for what was causing her abscess.
After the psychic surgery I sent her long distance healing every night for a week.
At the end of the week, her swelling had gone down and she was on her way to recovery.
